It is now too common for each of us to know someone who has been diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Whether it is our grandmother, mother, daughter, SISTER, aunt, wife, father, brother, uncle or friend... they immediately become the fiercest fighter we know.
HERO, LEADER, SYMBOL of HOPE and SURVIVOR epitomize what my sister, Janet, became and still is to our family. Ironically, Janet chose cancer as her career becoming an Oncology Nurse / Breast Cancer Navigator and Cancer Support Services Manager for Erlanger Health System in Chattanooga, TN. Janet was diagnosed with breast cancer in October 2001 after finding an abnormal lump while doing a breast self exam (BSE). By her side through all her treatments, surgeries and recovery my eyes were opened to the realities of this horrible disease and the impact it has on the patient and their entire family. I also learned the importance of everyone remaining hopeful, faithful and empowering a positive attitude throughout their battle.
As my sister's journey began, I was afforded the opportunity to be educated fully on breast cancer, the impact of its treatments and the recovery process. It was quickly apparent that life does not stop with a cancer diagnosis it goes on totally turned upside down. Janet was determined to never miss a beat when it came to day-to-day life with her three young sons and her responsibilities to her breast cancer patients facing the same daily struggles as herself. It was obvious to me, very quick, that there was a vast need for additional programs to assist breast cancer patients and their families throughout the continuum:
Could they afford to get a mammogram for the detection of a breast cancer?
How do they afford to pay for transportation to and from their treatment and/or other appointments once diagnosed?
How do they pay for their prescriptions required for their treatment?
How do they afford to fight breast cancer AND pay daily living expenses required to care for their families?
How do we help educate more people on the need for Breast Health Awareness and the need for early detection?
Helping some of these families afford the everyday necessities to help them fight the fight is the basis of S.H.E. 4Life, LLC. The brand has been developed to make a difference in the lives of those who are battling to become survivors.
The goal of S.H.E. 4Life, LLC is to work with retailers across the nation to place "SHE4Life" products in their stores to help fight the fight. The wholesale purchase of these products will generate dollars for donation to the regional breast cancer center or outreach program of the wholesaler/retailers choice. The wholesale purchases will generate a contribution to the selected program(s), from S.H.E. 4Life, LLC, but on behalf/in the name of the wholesaler/retailer. All of these post-sale actions/contributions will be coordinated with the respective wholesaler/retailers marketing department.
S.H.E. 4Life, LLC commits to our partners that we will supply fashionable, positive-messaging PINK RIBBON items that they will be proud to place in their stores, while knowing that they are supporting their local community--THEIR CUSTOMERS--who have the HOPE to SURVIVE. We feel there will be many in their local community that will adopt as their new goal: SURVIVE.HOPE.EMPOWER!
We greatly appreciate your support and partnership in order to make a difference in the lives of those afflicted by breast cancer.
